If You Were Ever An Elder...

what about the responsibility of being an elder did you dislike the most?

i served from september 2003 - june 2006. there were two things that bugged me the most the first was i got sick of the bickering amongst the body.

we had 7 elders and in nearly every situation, big or small, there was some division that got personal.

WELCOME to the forum!! We are so happy to have you here!! There are many ex-elders here, so I am sure you will get alot of responses. It wasn't until I left that I found out how many intimate questions the elders routinely ask those who have "sinned". I am sure there are many like you who were uncomfortable with the whole thing, but I am sure there were many who got off on it. Afterall. that would be the closest thing to porn that they could get. Again, we are happy to have you here, and appreciated your story.

Anyone else notice many more newbies suddenly???

is it just me, or has everyone noticed many more lurkers and newbies posting now?

i have been reading way too much lately, in light of the nbc broadcast, and it seems as if each time i read a new thread, there's someone posting their first post, or third.

right offhand, i remember leaving-jws, rmcgill_leader, jwdonotcall, confused and lost, xfdwg97, and another post i just read from mom--something or other.

i have a older sister that i have shared my feelings with about my doubt that jws are truly god's organization.

the reason she can promise is because she doesn't go to meetings herself.

Dear Leaving,

Sounds like she is still convinced that if she leaves the Borg, she is leaving Jehovah. Perhaps you could try reasoning with her that salvation does NOT depend on being a "Jehovahs Witness". Perhaps she is afraid of throwing her relationship with Jehovah out the door because she has been programmed to believe you cannot have one without the other. Is she baptised?? Don't give up on her. It may take some time, but sounds like in time you may get through to her.

my jw friend told me this from the meeting for service last week:.

one of the "sisters" told the group that she had spoken to (dave h*********) one of the bigwigs in this area, about the report.

he told her he had been to monroe prison, nearby, and asked about the pedophiles there and if any of them were jw's.

there are so many here with circumstances that will not allow them to leave the borg, and who week after week have to put on a show, and go to the meetings and service, that i just wanted to send you a big (((hug)) for hangng in there.. though each situation is no doubt different, one thing most likely the same..you would leave if you could,, and you have to endure all the things being taught each week, that you have come to learn are lies!

"HAPPY SATURDAY""!!! And MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!!

It is truely amazing how many new ones are coming on the forum!! It has been going like this for months and months!! So I was wondering..how many here were JWs just five years ago?? Certainly JWs are dropping like flies, and we know the Internet has ALOT to do with it!! We can be confident the numbers will keep growing. Especially in light of the upcoming "Generation change"..AGAIN!!

So please tell us...how many here were JWs just 5 years ago??

I have 11 in my family (includes parents and brothers and sisters, as well as husband and daughter).

Also have 9 friends in addition who have left as well!!! Total of 20!!

Covering Your Tracks

i left the wt in 1982 seeing them for what they were long before the age of the internet.

i bought my first computer in 1997 with windows 95 and netscape 3 for a web browser.. i was naturally curious about the wt and did a search for information.

the information was overwhelming and helped to fill in the areas that i was not aware of.
